[OPINION] Hundreds of homes near Scottsdale could have no running water

Homes that were built without an assured water supply in New River lost their hauled water in 2017, though EPCOR later stepped in. A similar story is now playing out in Rio Verde Foothills, northeast of Scottsdale – but this time, EPCOR has said it is unable to help.

You can picture the headline now, and it’s not a good one:

Hundreds of homes lack running water near one of Arizona’s wealthiest cities.

Homes with no wells or connections to a formal water system have been allowed to proliferate in Rio Verde Foothills, a 20 square-mile strip of county land northeast of Scottsdale.
