Anglers, Glendale officials celebrate opening of lake

Workers began removing a temporary fence surrounding a new lake at Heroes Regional Park on Jan. 12, and anglers, walkers and others didn’t wait long to try out the new amenity.

Even before Glendale city officials celebrated the lake’s opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony the next day, people were tossing lines into the water and strolling the perimeter.

The new lake is 4 acres in size and up to 13 feet deep. There’s a paved path circling the perimeter, and a fountain with programmable LED lights.
