A developer is proposing to transform a long vacant waterfront property at Tempe Town Lake into a $1.8 billion “resort-inspired” community with apartments, shopping and dining and a pier that juts out into the water.
The project, known as South Pier at Tempe Town Lake, is planned on Vista Del Lago Drive on the south bank of the lake, east of Rural Road.
It’s part of a larger development known as Pier 202 that is comprised of three developments, including the lake’s tallest buildings that are under construction. The third component is a small parcel and plans are still being hammered out.
