SIGNAL PEAK — Housing and industry are coming in fast, but transportation infrastructure is coming slow, according to mayors in Pinal County.
During a panel at Central Arizona College hosted by Pinal Partnership, five county mayors — Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland, Maricopa Mayor Christian Price, Florence Mayor Tara Walter, Eloy Mayor Micah Powell and Coolidge Mayor Jon Thompson — listed their cities’ successes and challenges. The successes are familiar by now — major electric vehicle manufacturers like Lucid and Nikola — but so are many of the complaints, such as a bottleneck along Interstate 10.
“I-10 is choking as we speak,” McFarland said. “We are still two years away from any relief on that. I just think it will be a disaster by the time we get there.”
