Some CG council members have concerns over smaller homes being built

CASA GRANDE — Despite approving a number of zone changes that would allow for smaller lot sizes in upcoming neighborhoods, concerns among city officials have been more notable as developer’s needs are weighed against the community as a whole.

The latest development approved by the city council, which took place during their meeting on Monday, drew pointed criticism from Council member Dick Powell for the lack of yard space for some of the lots. The change to R-2 zoning for a 45-acre portion of Mission Ranch II would allow for a minimum of five feet setbacks between homes.
“That’s terrible,” Powell said. “You can take a cup of sugar, pass it to your neighbor right out the window.”
