ACC hears pros, cons on SRP plant expansion

CASA GRANDE — The first day of the Arizona Corporation Commission’s public hearing Monday over the proposed Salt River Project expansion of its power plant near Randolph ended with more than 50 people speaking or giving comments.

The commission is scheduled to visit the site at 10 a.m. Wednesday and will spend about eight hours there.

Before the public comment section, Salt River Project called a few people to testify on the need for the expansion, most notably a need for more electricity with Maricopa County growing at a tremendous rate.
