With hundreds of cars now out on the roads around the U.S., Lucid Motors is ready to begin working with the state to make sure its vehicles remain at the vanguard of the nation’s rapidly emerging electric transportation economy.

On Monday, Lucid’s head of state and local public policy, Daniel Witt, testified before the Arizona Senate Transportation Committee to give an update on the company’s expansion and how the state could assist.

With an eye on the future, Witt implored the committee to revisit enacting stronger emissions standards in the state, including possibly enacting requirements to quickly facilitate a transition to electric vehicles. Witt noted 15 states, including some of Arizona’s neighbors, have mandated that all new car sales must be EVs by 2035.

“Arizona needs to understand that without enacting these policies, it is our consumers who will suffer,” Witt said. “Without legislation, adoption of technologies will take longer and will have a cascading impact on investments.”
