Glendale looks to move forward with Sahuaro Ranch Park upgrades, improvements

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Glendale City Council is scheduled to vote Feb. 22 on future designs and improvements at Sahuaro Ranch Park.

The council will vote on a $121.8 million contract for J2 Engineering and Environmental Design LLC to develop a new Sahuaro Ranch Park Master Plan.

The park is located near 59th Avenue and Peoria Avenue.

It has gardens and historic areas along with recreational facilities.

The new master plan development contract comes after a 2021 report for the city by GreenPlay LLC recommending improvements and conceptual designs for Sahuaro Park.

Now, the new contract will have Phoenix-based J2 being forth designs for restoring and improving gardens and “historic planting ares” as well as a water play area and destination playground.

J2 is on Glendale’s on-call list of engineering and environmental design firms and is preferred for the project by city staff, according to council documents.
