Managing growth focus of Apache Junction State of the City

Last year’s annexation of land in south Apache Junction and keeping up with growth were reoccurring topics during the recent city of Apache Junction’s State of the City.

“Development in the city — homes, rentals, businesses — continue at a good pace. And as you may know, we have embarked on the largest project in the city’s history: Thousands of homes, apartments and new businesses will be built over the next decade as we smartly manage the growth to the south. We have a lot to celebrate and to think about,” Mayor Chip Wilson said during the event held Feb. 9 at the Apache Junction Performing Arts Center on the Apache Junction High School campus, 2525 S. Ironwood Drive.

The year 2022 is the 100th anniversary of the city’s naming, which will be feted throughout the year.
