Peoria retirement communities take ‘jaw dropping’ hit in housing supply

With its multitude retirement communities, Arizona has long been attractive to older residents here as well as those out of state looking to start the next chapter in their lives.

But the lack of retirement community homes in the Valley might cause some to look elsewhere.

Peoria retirement communities — like Westbrook Village and Ventana Lakes — have not been immune to the scarcity in housing the market has experienced. In fact, the supply of Peoria homes in some retirement communities is infinitesimal.

Last month, only 4,310 homes were listed in the “active” and “coming soon” categories throughout the Valley on the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service.
