Satanic Temple is embarking on another chapter in its battle with the City of Scottsdale and former Mayor Jim Lane over being denied giving an invocation before a city council meeting in 2016.

The temple is hosting an event called SatanCon in Scottsdale Feb. 11 to Feb. 13 at the Saguaro Hotel.

The event — which aims to promote Satanism — requires attendees to show proof of COVID vaccination and to wear surgical, N-95 or K-95 masks.

The Satanic Temple says the conference is sold out but other attendees can still come to a marketplace area.

The group is touting the event as the largest Satanic conference ever held.

The Satanists’ focus on Scottsdale comes after Lane and other council members opposed a Satanist prayer before a 2016 council meeting and a federal lawsuit challenging that move was turned down by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The event will include celebration of Satanist holiday called Lupercalia as well as presentations on Satanists’ support for abortion rights in Texas and other states.
