Sierra Club vows to fight SRP expansion of Coolidge station

 The Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter is vowing to continue to fight against the Salt River Project power plant expansion near Randolph, even after the Arizona Line Siting Committee last week voted 7-2 to recommend approval to the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Sandy Bahr, chapter director of the Arizona Sierra Club, said there will definitely be a next step, pointing out that the Arizona Corporation Commission does not have to follow the recommendation.

The ACC could meet as early as the middle of March to make its decision.

“We are definitely continuing our opposition,” she said.
