Oh, to smell the roses amid war and politics

By Phil Riske, senior reporter/writer

Spring is just around the corner, a time for renwal.

Yet the coming  season of planting, blooming and spring-cleaning will be marked by war and nasty politics.

Perhaps this spring should be a call to not necessarily ignore politics, but look at partisan “fights” in cooler, less strident ways.

So many need to chill and warm under the spring sun.

While Putin slaughters enemies, pledge you’ll plant your garden.

As certain Arizona legislators continue to attack state elections laws, wearing masks or not, let’s pledge to plant trees or beautify our property in some remarkable way.

Life never promised us a rose garden when it comes to being governed.

But you could plant a rose garden, while the thorns in our government look not to springtime but to election days.

America needs fresh air.
