CASA GRANDE — The reopening of the Cactus Mine just west of Casa Grande continues to gather momentum with the project moving to a preliminary phase of detailed economic, environmental and additional impact studies.
If all boxes are checked, the mine could be operating as soon as 2024 to early 2025, with the company projecting the potential of some $8.5 billion in economic impact (direct and indirect), some $2.5 billion in wages and $366.7 million in state and local tax revenues.
If the mine is reopened the project would be designed to last some 18 years.
