FLORENCE – Legislation that would give counties the authority to apply directly for federal water grants has just passed the Arizona House, State Rep David Cook said at a town hall with other elected officials on Feb. 24.
Cook, R-Globe, responded to a question from the audience about how local and area home construction continues to boom while the water supply is known to be limited.
Cook said there are three people in the Arizona House that he considers water experts — Speaker Rusty Bowers; Gail Griffin, chair of Natural Resources and Water; and himself. “I don’t think anybody else in that building knows more about water than we do.”
