Construction that will add a 1.5 miles of new light rail track near the former Metrocenter Mall is moving along without a hitch, according to a Valley Metro official.
Construction crews are on schedule with building an elevated bridge west across Interstate 17 to the former mall site as part of the light rail extension project, said Madeline Phipps, a spokeswoman for Valley Metro.
Valley Metro, who operates the light rail system, will have its first elevated station that will allow residents to buy either light rail or bus passes via machines similar to the ones at other Valley light rail stations.
