MARICOPA — For Maricopa and the greater Phoenix area, it’s important to keep up with the supply and demand for housing, whether it’s buying or renting.
City Manager Rick Horst presented a current state of the greater Phoenix housing market supply and demand analysis by HomeArizona from Elliott D. Pollack and Company at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
Maricopa is part of this area’s housing market.
Arizona homeowner vacancy rates have dropped dramatically since 2007. The Arizona rental vacancy rate is also following a similar pattern since there’s more need than the ability to fulfill that need. It started dropping in 2009.
The greater Phoenix population is growing dramatically at 90,000 residents a year. Housing being built can only support 45,000 new residents a year.
