Scottsdale begins solar power development at city facility

By Caroline Yu | Your Valley

New solar systems are being developed for the city of Scottsdale’s North Corporation Campus as part of an ongoing parking deck project that is currently in design.

In September 2021, Scottsdale City Council approved a design and build contract with Chasse Building Team for a new elevated parking deck that included a 2019 bond project to install solar systems at the location as well, according to a city staff report.

“Design is underway and the team identified areas for solar systems to include canopies over parking areas at the existing garage, the new parking deck and an existing surface parking lot,” the report stated.

These two new solar power systems would be connected to the Arizona Public Service Co.’s power grid to offset some of the electrical usage at the campus through two separate APS meters that supply the site with electricity.
