Tempe working to prime area south of mall as ‘innovation hub’

The city of Tempe is working to grow the area south of Tempe Marketplace into an “innovation hub,” which is a pilot idea that could be applied to other employment areas around the city.

The city identified the 302 acres that are bounded by Loop 101 to the east, Rio Salado Parkway to the north, University Drive to the south, and McClintock Drive to the west as an area with a lot of potential due to its connectivity and proximity to major redevelopment areas, according to city of Tempe documents.
