CASA GRANDE — Given that Craig McFarland has served as mayor of Casa Grande since 2016, some might conclude that the keen golfer would be eying a few extra rounds on the local course accompanied with a cold beverage as his final mayoral term approaches.
But nothing could be further from the truth as the husband to Nancy for 39 years, father of two and grandfather of five told PinalCentral he has no intentions of toning down his busy work schedule with a booming local economy to facilitate.
“We’re at a time when we are at a crossroads,” said McFarland, who is running unopposed in the August election. “I think, here in our history, we need to manage the growth. Some people think it’s too fast. Some people think it’s not fast enough.”
