COOLIDGE — Mayor Jon Thompson took a decidedly positive approach in this year’s State of the City address held at the Youth Center on April 20.
“Instead of always being on the negative side, I thought we would put something in there that was positive,” said Thompson as he kicked off his presentation with the city’s No. 2 ranking on Travel and Leisure’s “10 Best Small Towns to Retire in the U.S.”
Thompson explained this ranking was included as an offset to Coolidge frequently making “most dangerous places to live” lists on different online publications, which often reference the crime rate to population ratio of the city.
