ELOY — With housing being at the forefront of the city of Eloy’s future plans, Mayor Micah Powell issued a proclamation declaring April as Fair Housing Month.
The proclamation is a yearly occurrence for Eloy, but in 2022 specifically, the idea of fair and equal housing is ever more prevalent.
With housing prices in the state seeing a rapid increase in recent times, Powell spoke about the significance of fair housing, not only for the residents of Eloy, but for the city itself.
“We want to make sure that Eloy has affordable housing for our residents,” Powell said. “With prices and rent going up, it is difficult right now, so you just want to make sure you have affordable housing for everyone.”
