Phoenix is looking to bid to host the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four in 2029, 2030 or 2031.
The Valley is hosting the Women’s Final Four in 2026 at the Footprint Center.
The Phoenix City Council is being asked to back another bid to host the event. The council will consider supporting the bid at its April 6 meeting.
The Valley hosted the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2017 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The region will host the men’s college basketball event again in 2024.
Another Final Four bid involves support from the city (which owns the downtown arena, the Phoenix Suns (the arena’s prime tenant), Arizona State University and the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Hosting the event also includes concerts, fan festivals and other activities.
The city will have to provide public safety, logistics for events and other services to host the events.
