Scottsdale City Council election race already accumulating money

By Melissa Rosequist | Your Valley

Campaign finance reports for the first quarter of this election season are in, and some Scottsdale City Council candidates are garnering upwards of $10,000 or more in monetary donations.

Two candidates, Daniel Ishac and Raoul Zubia, formed their campaigns in early April, after the first quarter closed. City Clerk Ben Lane says for this reason, Ishac and Zubia did not have reports to turn in, but will be responsible for future campaign finance reports.

The required reports, which were due on April 15, keep track of who’s donating to candidate campaigns, and what expenditures candidates are spending their money on. The reports show candidates are garnering funds from parties interested in the future of the city, as well as regular residents of Scottsdale.

There are seven Scottsdale City Council candidates vying for three open seats in an Aug. 2 primary election followed by a Nov. 8 general election.
