Construction has started construction on a new storage project next to the Papago Plaza redevelopment in Scottsdale.

The Storage on McDowell is located just west of the redevelopment of the well-known shopping center at McDowell Road and Scottsdale Road.

The Bell Group (George S. Bell) is building the new 90,652-square-foot, four-level storage facility. Two floors will be above grade and two floors will be below grade, according to site plans filed with the City of Scottsdale.

The storage project will replace a two-story office building. It is located at 7025 East McDowell Avenue.

EAPC Architects Engineers and James Elson Architect are serving as the designer of the project along with landscape architect T.J. McQueen & Associates.

The city issued the permit to start construction on May 23.

Alliance Residential is developing a new multifamily project called Broadstone Papago Marketplace as part of the redevelopment efforts at the former shopping center site.
