Florence P&Z Commission rejects RV yard

FLORENCE — The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 3-2 to disapprove an RV storage yard off Hunt Highway and West Merrill Ranch Parkway, followed by applause from a full house at Town Hall May 19.

The 17-acre, 630-space yard still has a chance before the Town Council, which is expected to hold a public hearing and take final action on June 6.

Commissioner Cathy Adam joined Commissioners Fred Capolongo and Duane Proulx in voting against the RV facility but said shortly afterward the applicant showed a willingness to work with its neighbors and “we are desperate for a business like you to come to Florence.” She said it’s a business the town needs, although maybe not by the people in attendance that night.
