The Valley dominates the new list ranking the best places for early retirement.
Gilbert tops the list of best locales for early retirement, according to a new analysis by SmartAsset.
The financial research firm ranked localities based on taxes, elder care, affordability and quality of life.
Phoenix area jurisdictions hold four of the top ten spots with their rankings helped by Arizona’s tax breaks on capital gains. They also compare well to other big metro areas when it comes to housing and other costs.
Gilbert tops the list with SmartAsset pointing to the East Valley town’s low rates of violent crime.
Chandler and Scottsdale came in second and fourth, respectively, aided by their health care and senior care assets.
Mesa ranks seventh on the SmartAsset list.
Other cities on the list include Henderson, Nevada (3rd), Plano, Texas (5th), Louisville, Kentucky (6th), Boise, Idaho (8th), Pittsburgh (9th) and Lexington, Kentucky (10th).
