Retirement communities see changing of the guard

Arizona’s retirement housing industry may be changing.

As Generation X begins its rise to those eligible to live in age-restricted communities, there are questions rising over what the future of those communities will look like.

Some homebuilders have begun putting out products that invite multiple generations of families to live under one roof. For existing communities, attracting younger buyers will be key to their survival as retirement meccas.Communities like the Sun Cities have been reinventing themselves since 1960, when Del Webb unleashed a vision of a place for seniors to retire and live.

But what the name Sun City means may be changing.
