Construction on a 120-acre site in north Scottsdale called One Scottsdale will ramp up this summer as work is expected to begin on retail buildings, followed by an apartment complex.
The site, north of Loop 101 on Scottsdale Road, was master planned by DMB Associates, and had been owned by a joint venture including DMB and mall owner and developer Macerich since before the Great Recession.
The project has had several stops and starts during that time, Michael Burke, senior vice president of commercial development for DMB, said. There have been two different times that land on the site has gone into escrow but the sale fell through, but now Burke said interest in the project has been growing again.
In total, the site has zoning in place to accommodate up to 1,250 residential units including condominiums and apartments, as well as an additional resort hotel, office and medical office buildings and retail and restaurants. The site includes land on the north and south sides of Legacy Boulevard.
