FLORENCE – This is the second in a series of articles in which candidates for Town Council respond to questions from the Florence Reminder & Blade-Tribune. The primary election is Aug. 2.
Is the town correctly managing growth? Which type is most needed — residential, industrial or commercial? Why?
Nicole Buccellato: Residential growth is happening here already as we have 3,500 homes set to be built in the next five years. Now more than ever we need commercial growth. The residents need options on where to shop, eat and entertain locally. A large portion of the residents’ money is being spent in other towns and cities as we currently do not have a lot of business options locally. That money could be spent here and the taxes from it could help fund our town’s libraries, parks, senior centers and help with public safety.
