Florence reevaluating plans for metal building, recycling bins

FLORENCE — Following neighborhood backlash, the town is reconsidering plans for a two-story metal building and utilities yard with recycling bins covering two vacant blocks on Ruggles Street.

“Staff is reevaluating the site and the requirements, and we’re going to be coming back to council with a revised plan” at a work session yet to be scheduled, Florence Senior Planner Harvey Krauss told the Planning and Zoning Commission June 16.


The neighbors talked of the potential for flies, rodents and blowing trash and questioned the wisdom of putting a two-story metal industrial building in a historic neighborhood along a major entrance to Main Street.
