ELOY — For Micah Powell, his reasoning for seeking a second term as mayor of Eloy is simple.
“The job is not finished,” he said.
Since taking over as mayor in 2020, Powell has forged ahead in his mission to put Eloy on the map. Now in 2022, the Eloy mayor is ready to continue the work he started.
Before being elected mayor, Powell spent eight years on the City Council and spent three terms as the vice mayor.
In an interview with PinalCentral, Powell spoke about becoming the mayor, saying that while the COVID-19 pandemic created new challenges, being the mayor was a blessing to him, and he was ready to move Eloy forward.
“It was exciting; in the midst of the pandemic, we didn’t lose focus on what we were supposed to do as a community,” Powell said. “We kept the grind going, and that was in the middle of change all around the world. I wanted to make sure we continued giving residents an opportunity.”
