THIS WEEK: What is the best part of living in Surprise?
DISTRICT 1
Raymond Grim
The best part of living in Surprise is the people. I’ve always said that Surprise has a small-town feel with city benefits. When someone in the city is in need, the people of Surprise rally around them and help out.
When you go to a store, park, or any local business you usually run into someone you know. The old show “Cheers” theme song had a line in it, “you want to go where everybody knows their name.” That’s the feeling in our great city.
As far as the city government goes, there are three areas I want to highlight. First, the city of Surprise has the best parks and recreation department. They have great programming for kids, teens and adults. I’ve sponsored and volunteered as a coach for about 20 years for baseball, basketball, soccer and kickball. I participated and sponsored men’s and coed adult softball in the city for years.
