What do Paradise Valley council candidates value about town?

In this week’s weekly Q&A, the Independent asks Paradise Valley Town Council candidates, what is their favorite aspect of the town?

From open space to the unique charm that Paradise Valley embodies and everything in-between, it’s easy to agree that the quaint municipality is special.

There are four people seeking election to the three open seats on Town Council: Ellen Andeen, Paul Dembow, Christine Labelle and Anna Thomasson. What is it about Paradise Valley that they value and want to maintain?

Leading up to the Aug. 2 primary election, the Town of Paradise Valley Independent is hosting an in-person candidate forum for residents and voters.

The forum will be 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Paradise Valley Town Hall, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive. Lead News Editor Melissa Rosequist will moderate the event.

• What is your favorite aspect about the Town of Paradise Valley?
Paradise Valley people are the best. It is easy to get lost in the stunning mountains and desert environment that surround us but getting to know our residents is my favorite aspect of living in the town. Thoughtful, educated, unassuming, committed and engaged, the residents I have met continue to inspire my service on town council. Whether at the Kiva parents’ fundraiser, the Cherokee visioning session, the Town of Paradise Valley Women’s Association luncheons, the gentlemen at the monthly men’s breakfast, walking one of my German Shepherds, or gathering signatures to put my name on the ballot, I’m reminded daily of the genuinely nice people in the town.
