Stop interfering in city board and commission meetings.
That was the message Scottsdale City Council members gave mayor David Ortega during a regularly scheduled meeting July 7.
Ortega has occasionally gone to board and commission meetings as an ex officio (non-voting) member. He has also at times sat on the dais and offered opinions on topics considered by the boards and commissions.
But during a July 7 discussion of Council’s rules of procedure, Ortega’s colleagues called such conduct inappropriate.
Ortega pointed out that the council’s rules of procedure say the mayor “shall serve” on the boards and commissions as an ex officio member and said that he has attended at least seven different board and committee meetings.
