A photo posted on Twitter by the Republican Party of Arizona showed the electors sitting in prayer before casting their votes for Donald Trump on Dec. 14, 2020.
Opinion: They were bold in their actions and clear in their intent, and recent court filings show they’re still trying to weasel out of responsibility.

Despite Joe Biden winning Arizona, the Republicans filed documents with Congress falsely claiming to be Arizona’s true electors.
I’ll ask again what I started asking in February: Why aren’t Arizona’s fake Electoral College electors behind bars?
They very boldly cooked up a scheme to usurp the roles of duly selected presidential electors as a way of overturning an election. From the moment we learned about this scheme I’ve imagined a variation on something these very same Republicans used to chant about Hillary Clinton:
Lock.
Them.
Up.
In their latest move to convince a judge to prevent the select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection to get a look at their phone records from Election Day 2020 until the attack on the Capitol, Arizona Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward – chief among the phony electors – along with her husband, say that the phony electoral slate they sent to Washington, D.C., attempting to cast Arizona’s ballots for Donald Trump instead of rightful winner Joe Biden, was only meant to be considered the real thing “in the event that the legal challenges to the Arizona results succeeded.”
‘Duly elected and qualified’? No
Ahhh … no.
