Scottsdale tops in U.S. for pets

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Scottsdale ranks as the most pet friendly city in the U.S. , according to a new study.

Financial research firm WalletHub ranked U.S. markets based on number of veterinarians and pet-related businesses per capita as well as the costs of care, number of dog parks and pet-friendly restaurants and businesses. The ranking also takes into account weather, walkability and dog friendly hiking trails.

Scottsdale tops the list, according to WalletHub. The Arizona city has ample hiking trails and places to walk dogs. Scottsdale also earned the top ranking for pets health and wellness.

Tampa is second, followed by Portland (Oregon), St. Louis, Cincinnati and St. Petersburg (Florida).

The bottom of the pet friendly list includes Santa Ana (California), Baltimore, Honolulu, New York, Chicago and Detroit.

Among other Arizona cities, Phoenix ranks 33rd, Glendale (80th), Gilbert (82nd), Tucson (84th), Mesa (86th), and Chandler (93rd).
