The Republican and Democratic candidates for Arizona attorney general addressed negative attacks and other developments that have battered their campaigns at a forum where they shared the stage Thursday.
At the event held by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, moderator Mike Bailey asked Republican Abe Hamadeh and Democrat Kris Mayes to address some of the criticisms leveled at their campaigns.
Bailey, a former U.S. attorney who is now general counsel for the Chamber, asked Hamadeh to address claims that he lacks prosecutorial experience, reports that he engaged in voter fraud and accusations that he or his family is antisemitic.
Bailey also pressed former Arizona Corporation Commissioner Mayes as to whether she was “too comfortable” with leftist extremists and anti-police sentiment from members of her staff and party, along with accusations that she would pick and choose what state laws to enforce based on her abortion stance.
Hamadehs, called on Mayes to fire Stacey Champion who is a PR consultant for the Democratic candidate.
