Federal grant would speed I-10 widening project

By Michael Maresh | Pinal Central

CASA GRANDE — The time line for the long-awaited Interstate 10 widening project between Pinal County and Chandler will largely depend on a $360 million federal MEGA grant request, Arizona Department of Transportation officials said at a presentation to residents.

About 40 people attended Tuesday night’s ADOT public hearing on the project at Vista Grande High School.

The questions posed were not answered during the public hearing but will be addressed after the public comment period ends on Oct. 9.

One question asked of the panel by state Rep. Teresa Martinez, R-Casa Grande, was about how the construction would impact motorists.

ADOT Project Manager Carlos Lopez told PinalCentral it is something that will have to be discussed with the surrounding communities and stakeholders to minimize the impact.
