Membership and construction continue to race ahead at Arizona’s largest and privately owned race track. Apex Motor Club, which has well over 250 members and is halfway to being sold out of memberships, is proud to announce its first phase of new 48-private member garages are almost complete and set to deliver in early 2023.
Located in Maricopa, the country club for automotive enthusiasts is also in the final stages of engineering on multiple buildings, including a new 10,000-square-foot member clubhouse, plus the phase two track which gives members an additional 2.3 miles of premium racing asphalt to race on.
In other exciting news, The Flying Lizard Motorsports team also announced it will relocate its headquarters facility from the California wine country to APEX Motor Club.
The Flying Lizard Motorsports Team was founded in 2003 by Seth Nieman. Early in the team’s career they joined the American Le Mans Series in professional competition and the team earned three team and three driver championship titles before finding new ownership with longtime team members Darren Law, Thomas Blam, and Tommy Sadler. Under the new leadership the team has won 16 professional sports car racing team and driver championships.
“Sonoma has been an amazing home for us, but as our team continues to grow, our organization needs a central headquarters with room to grow, and the Apex facility perfectly fits the bill,” said Flying Lizard Motorsports Program Manager Darren Law. “The racing community in the area is larger than one would expect, and it is rare that a race facility is in a location such as this.”
Law added that Apex Motor Club is already a perfect fit with its large track, on-track testing, and arrive-and-drive opportunities, but it is also supplemented by the addition of a 15,000-square-foot building being prepared to serve as the Flying Lizard headquarters. Located just 30 minutes away from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, the new location also comes with the advantage of being close to the airport and The Valley of the Sun.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Flying Lizard to Apex Motor Club,” said Matt Williams, managing partner, and vice president of Apex Motor Club. “Our development has always been about being the best, and our association with the Lizards is one more instance of that. We look forward to working cooperatively with the Lizards on the final design of our second track as well as utilizing their input on member activities and driver education.”
Private Motor Sports is also in its third year of offering its Members only race series, with over 70 drivers competing in classes ranging from GT2 to SuperTrofeo and Porsche Cup Car, as well as Radical Platinum with the all new Radical SR10 and our incredibly popular SR3 class. For those novice or beginner’s – there is an entry class into racing, time attack, where members can compete without going wheel-to-wheel and still end up on the top of the podium. Private Motor Sports introduced the first ever of its kind, intramural club invitational race series, with Spring Mountain Motor Resort located outside of Las Vegas, NV. APEX Motor Club members recently traveled to Spring Mountain Motor Resort to compete with both APEX and Spring Mountain members in a gentleman’s race, then the members of Spring Mountain come to APEX Motor Club in March 2023 to race.
