Goodyear city manager announces retirement

By Madeline Ackley Salazar | YourValley

Goodyear’s city manager Julie Karins announced Monday that she is leaving her position on February 24.

“It is bittersweet for me to share with you that I have given notice today of my resignation as City Manager,” Karins wrote in an email sent to staff obtained by Independent Newsmedia.

Karins sent out an email the evening of January 23 announcing her retirement, citing the fact that her children had recently moved out of state.

“Over the past few years, all my children have relocated to the Kansas City area and my heart, as a mom, draws me there to be near them,” she wrote. “While I am sad to be leaving the incredible team here in Goodyear, I am excited to start a new chapter close to family,” she continued.
