P&Z approves new homes at Murphy & Farrell

By Jay Taylor | InMaricopa

The Planning & Zoning Commission on Monday unanimously approved the preliminary plat for 456 single-family homes at the southeastern corner of Murphy and Farrell roads.

The new community, now known as Elena Trails — formerly Murphy and Farrell — sits just east of Desert Sunrise High School. DR Horton is developer of the 111-acre project, which is just south of the Volkswagen Proving Grounds. The site currently is being used for agriculture.

The community will offer three lot sizes: 96 lots of 40-by-110 feet (4,950 square feet), 295 of 45-by-115 feet (5,175 square feet) and 65 of 50-by-115 feet (5,750 square feet). The community’s density will be 4.1 homes per acre.
