CASA GRANDE — Mayor Craig McFarland has made it very clear that the proposed state Senate Bill 1117 being touted by Phoenix Sen. Steve Kaiser is an “attack” on cities.
McFarland told PinalCentral that he had sent an email to Kaiser, R-15, outlining his city’s concerns about the bill, which would remove formal planning procedures and typical public debate on new multifamily developments.
“I had a little exchange with my friend Mr. Kaiser via email because I sent him a note on this (SB 1117), and I gave my reasons for not liking this bill,” he said. “Then I basically said at the end of it, ‘Steve, just answer me one question, why do you hate cities?'”
