City of Surprise representatives went to Wittmann for the second General Plan 2040 Community Workshop but was met with “passionate” pleas of resistance from a room full of those who wanted their rural areas left alone.
More than two hours of community input was received Jan. 31 at Mountainside High School, in Wittmann, where residents were tasked to assist with helping to update the Surprise’s General Plan 2040. A guiding document that outlines the city plan for the next decade, the plan addresses items from land use and open space to transportation and services, including examining existing land use and growth area plans.
Soliciting residents’ comments/concerns, feedback is gathered through informational boards for proposed community vision/values and input from previous outreach efforts. The first community meeting, with 25 people in August 2022, began a series of forums for shaping the General Plan.
The next community workshop meetings are Feb. 13 and 22 at Surprise City Hall.
