A $400 million hospital and cancer center will expand Banner Health’s services to Scottsdale, an area where the health care provider has been wanting to grow for years.
Banner is buying about 48 acres at the southwest corner of Hayden Road and Loop 101, where it plans to build a four-story facility called Banner Scottsdale Medical Center. The center is expected to open in 2026 and will have 106 patient beds and 20 observation beds, with extra space to expand as needed.
“Scottsdale was really the only part of the greater Phoenix area where we didn’t have a presence in acute care, the northeast quadrant of the Valley is the main area where we didn’t have as many services,” Peter Fine, president and CEO of Banner Health, said. “We’ve always had a desire to expand in Scottsdale.”
