Epcor wants to supply water to Rio Verde Foothills

After days of testimony, an Arizona Corporation Commission hearing on an unincorporated community’s water woes has finally wrapped up.

The hearing was a crucial step toward the commission potentially approving an application from Epcor, a private utility company regulated by the state, to serve Rio Verde Foothills, a community that lost its water supply in January.

Service by Epcor has been the main solution on the table for the neighborhood since a proposal to create a water-taxing district was defeated last year. During the hearing, company officials were questioned for hours about their plans.
