Pinal seeking to relieve traffic congestion around Florence

FLORENCE — As the town of Florence and Pinal County team up for a final phase of Hunt Highway widening, Pinal is also working on even bigger projects to keep cars moving in a fast-growing Florence and San Tan Valley area.

“Hunt Highway and Ironwood (Road) are not going to serve the future,” Assistant County Engineer Celeste Garza told the Florence Planning and Zoning Commission in a presentation on major road projects on April 6.

While Pinal works to pick up where the state left off and keep building State Route 24 eastward, it’s working on a new north-south route connecting SR 24 to the Florence area known as Central Arizona Parkway.
