Buckeye will be getting a new apartment complex with an approval from the city council on Tuesday, as well as potential development on another midsize parcel.
On Tuesday night, the Buckeye City Council approved two requests for the intent to create future housing sites, with one property being used at 19.4 acres and another site on 37.54 acres.
The first item approved by council was for a public hearing and approval recommendation of a rezoning of approximately 19.4 acres west of the southwest corner of Jackrabbit Trail and Thomas Road, under the name Avilla Marigold community.
Adam Copeland, deputy director for planning for the city, presented the application from Hancock Communities in anticipation of a 214-unit bungalow style multifamily community.
The applicant proposed rezoning the land from single-family residential to multifamily.
