A street in south Apache Junction has been renamed to match the name of the surrounding masterplanned housing subdivision.
The Apache Junction City Council voted unanimously May 2 on changing the street to Radiance Avenue as part of a consent agenda with other items. Vice Mayor Robert Schroeder was absent.
Four final plats and a map of dedication for Reverence at Superstition Vistas by D.R. Horton — now known as Radiance — were approved by the City Council in August. The plats had lot sizes between 4,400 and 6,000 square feet for a total of 439 lots.
Road improvements for Radiance Avenue, the east-west midsection road, will be constructed with the first phase of construction, Interim Planning Manager Sidney Urias wrote in a memo to the council.
“On Jan. 17, 2023, D.R. Horton submitted a map of dedication for Phase 1B; since then, the name of the community has changed from Reverence to Radiance. Consequently, D.R. Horton has elected to rename Solina Avenue to Radiance Avenue,” he said.
Radiance Avenue will be dedicated to — and maintained — by the city of Apache Junction, according to the map of dedication.
