[VIEWPOINT] Coyotes development in Tempe would make history for Arizona

Chicanos Por La Causa signed on as an early supporter of Propositions 301, 302, and 303 because the development project provides much-needed jobs and tax revenue for Tempe by turning an old landfill next to Tempe Town Lake into an entertainment district that includes new housing, new retail, nearly 7,000 permanent jobs, and a new sports and entertainment arena.

CPLC also has great faith in the man behind the proposal: Arizona Coyotes Owner Alex Meruelo, the first Latino majority owner in the history of the National Hockey League. The private development group is led by Meruelo, whose parents came from Cuba to the United States seeking a better life. Now Meruelo is proposing a project that offers Tempe a better quality of life.
